As you would most probably stroll around this grandiose building while checking Control Club, you may not be tempted to go in. But if you do, and you’ll be in for a arhitectural treat. The National Military Circle also serves as a restaurant, and because it’s state owned prices are very low. A beer is 8 lei and a 2 course meal will set you back no more than 30 lei.

Every Wednesday, Dana, organises yoga classes at Make a Point’s headquarter. Make A Point is an association that works to bring art closer to people and promote one of Bucharest’s biggest neighborhood: Pantelimon. While the sessions start at 7:30 pm, if you come one hour earlier you’d be able to visit Art Tower – an water tower that is now home to Bucharest’s most impressive murals.

With 360 acres of untouched nature, Văcărești is Bucharest’s biggest national park. Not so long ago real-estate developers wanted to “upgrade” it into a residential area. Luckily, it didn’t happen and now an NGO is looking after this oasis of fresh air. They recently inaugurated a trail full with information about flora and fauna. Learn more on their website.

A few years ago, coming here wasn’t really a choice. You’d probably be handcuffed and shaking as this building served as a police station, full with detention rooms.

As soon as you’ll step your foot in this place you’ll get to experience Bucharest’s communist era “pubs” with extremely reasonably priced food and drinks.

What better place to have a few beers than a vine garden? This place opens just after 6pm making it the perfect hide-out from rush hour. Try a Chișinău for only 8 lei and with every sip you’ll be tasting a bit of our bitter history of getting separated from Republic of Moldova.

This little gem of a laid back garden is located on Aurel Vlaicu street and that’s actually an important detail. In 1909, Vlaicu built his first glider (in Romanian planor), hence becoming an aviation pioneer.
Tap beer is about 8 lei and the food menu is tasty, yet very reasonably priced.

Built more than 100 years and continuously changing owners, Casa Universitarilor is now part of Bucharest University. As with most publically owned restaurants, the menu is not very diverse, but the view on the terrace makes it a perfect spot for lunch or dinner.

It’s near to both the North railway station and Romana Square and serves daily menus for only 21 lei. Tap beer is 9 and a flying pig predominates the quirky designed beer garden and interior.

A beer garden hidden in of the Old Center’s streets with local cuisine and the occasional smoking of sausages right on the terrace. The price of a beer is 6 lei and typical meal will set you off less than 30 lei. See the full menu here.

A favourite of nearby ASE students, this 5 lei slices of delicious oven baked pizzas will easily make avoiding the neighboring KFC or Pizza Hut from “Piața Romană” much more easier.

Due to its small size, the cramped exhibits of classical cars and full-size train engines create an unintentionally steampunk atmosphere just near the beautiful Carol Park. Entrance fee is 10 lei and you’ll be admiring dusty technical drawings mostly alone.

MNAC is hosted in the monstrosity that is called “Palatul Parlamentului”, a building that goes mostly unused and was erected by our former communist leader. Entrance fee is 16 lei and exhibits change every quarter.

Breathtaking views and BBQ aromas in the week-end. If you walk around it you will find the relics of a wharf. Morii Lake collects and releases the water you see in Dâmbovița man-made canal.

Rarely you’ll find such a homey atmosphere in Bucharest. Owned by Nick, pictured here, you’ll be sure to find out straight from him that he brought the first hamburger in Bucharest – back in 1987. Of course, that has nothing to do with the delicious pizzas and pastas served here by Nik’s co-host, mrs. Violeta. A beer is only 8 lei and a meal about 25.

Tuesdays are the days when this once hippest club in Bucharest has everything 50% off after 10 pm. When it’s cold the garden is packed with industrial sized heaters which makes chain smoking way too easy. Most of the time you’ll have to pay a 10 lei entrance fee.

Great place for a nice walk or jog. Instagrammable views of the lake, ducks and even a small spring that flows into a pond full of turtles. If you want to enjoy a beer or a soup afterwards, head up to the nearby OTA.

One of most well kept secrets of Bucharest’s soup lovers. Every Wednesday & Thursday, Ota cooks dinner for friends and friends of friends which you can enjoy in the garden or downstairs near the kitchen. A soup is 15 lei, a beer is 10 and cocktails are only 15. As there is no sign at the entrance look for number 26 on the door.
